There are so many different options for your music at your wedding that it can be very difficult to make this decision. The first decision that you need to make is deciding between a wedding band and a DJ.

Despite what you may think, your decision does not get much easier after this. There are a lot of things that you will need to consider when choosing the best wedding band for your big day. Here are the top 5 things that you need to consider when choosing a wedding band.

Budget

When it comes to your wedding, your budget will always be the top consideration. You want to make sure that you are choosing a wedding band that works within your budget and you should really stick to that. If you go over budget here, you may have to sacrifice something even more important to you down the line. You will be able to find plenty of bands within your budget.

Your Audience

For the most part, bands have a specific niche that they are particularly adept in. What this means is that if your guest list is mostly around your age group, you will want someone who plays a newer or specific type of music.

If you have a good mix of guests, you will want a band that may be more diverse than normal wedding bands. Ask them about what type of music that they play before you decide on them

Experience

Let’s face it: you do not want some newbie to the music field to play on such an important day. They may be cheaper, but there is a lot to be said about having a lot of experience.

This means that they will be able to recover if a mistake happens, they understand that a show must go on. They will also be better able to read the crowd and can adjust accordingly in order to ensure your guests are always having a great time. Always pick someone who has a lot of experience with performing at weddings.

What Happens When The Band Stops

A problem with a band is that they cannot just continue to play for several hours at a time. They will need to take a break which may cause a lull during the reception. You should ask the band to see if they will provide music in between each set. Different bands may typically play a few different sets but they will take between 10 and 15 minutes between each set.

The Important First Dance

If you have a song in mind for your first dance, it is important that you pick a band that can play this song for you. Most bands will take the time to learn the song for you though others would prefer if you chose a first dance song from their list.

At the end of the day, the perfect wedding band for your needs is going to be a personal preference based on your individual needs.
